Bill Gates moving $20 billion to foundation, plans to drop off list of wealthiest people
Foundation, one of the largest philanthropy in the world, plans to increase payment by 50 percent from pre-pandemic levels, from nearly $ 6 billion to $ 9 billion every year in 2026. This foundation is mainly focused on giving charity which aims to improve global health , gender and educational equality, among other problems, CNN reports.
One of the founders of Microsoft and his ex -wife, Melinda French Gates, both promised to donate most of their wealth to the foundation they made together 20 years ago, as well as for other philanthropic efforts. The couple announced their divorce in May 2021, saying they would work together as joint chairman in a two -year probation. At the end of the trial, the French gate has an option to resign and receive payments from her ex -husband, who will remain responsible for the foundation.
With an estimated net worth of around $ 114 billion, Bill Gates is currently the fourth richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg billionaire index, with most of his wealth related to Microsoft’s shares.
But he didn’t mean to rank that high forever.”I will move and finally from the list of the richest people in the world,” Gates wrote on a blog.”I have an obligation to restore my resources to the community in a way that has the biggest impact to improve life. I hope others in the position of wealth and great privileges will move on right now,” he said, reported CNN.
